Parent Volunteer Background Check

1. Go to the Oregon Department of Early Learning and Care's Central Background Registry website.

   • Select "I am applying for work, plan to volunteer or be associated with a licensed child care facility, requesting agency, preschool recorded program, school age recorded program, or licensed exempt child care receiving payment from ERDC Child Care Assistance Program."

   • Facility number for French International: CC000529

   • Select your position as "VOLUNTEER." 

2. After completing the online application, you will receive a letter and an email from the Department Early Learning and Care requesting that you get fingerprints. (Check junk/spam folders; the email often gets lost there.)

3. Schedule an appointment to get your fingerprints, which is free if you use the code the Office of Childcare sends via email.

4. Once completed, the Department Early Learning and Care will mail you and FI a letter when you have been approved.

5. If you do not receive a letter within 10 business days after you complete your fingerprints, please call (503) 947-1400, ext: 3 to see if you need to take additional steps.

Background checks done through the Central Background Registry are valid for a period of five years. 

Kindergarten through eighth grade volunteers should fill out the Criminal History Verification form, then use the form below to submit it to FI. 

French International considers these background checks valid for a period of two years. If you are unsure if you have a valid background check on file, please email Penelope Babst.
