September Global Mindset Moments

September Global Mindset Moments

Throughout the year, we share weekly Global Mindset Moments on social media to demonstrate how our mission is playing out in our school and how we are fulfilling our Strategic Plan. Here are the September Global Mindset Moments:

Global Mindset Moment (September 25): On September 21, we gathered as a community to celebrate International Day of Peace with poetry, art, stories, and music. The day included  Maternelle students creating posters about what peace means to them, Lower School students sharing poems in the languages they speak at home, and our Middle School choir and visiting students from Chile performing a song for everyone. The celebration was a reflection of who we are: a community connected by many languages, cultures, and voices. One school with a united vision and purpose.

Global Mindset Moment (September 18): Fourth graders are exploring architecture in the modern age, learning about five significant gathering spaces and why people come together in these places. In art, students sketched and colored two-dimensional architectural models. Their next challenge will be to bring their designs to life with 3D models! Learning extends across classrooms and specialists, with lessons that build upon one another to create rich, connected experiences. Through art, students are developing creativity and design skills, while enriching classroom learning.

Global Mindset Moment (September 11): Today, we welcomed Elaine Charpentier Philippi from the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust to visit our STEAM lab! This incredible space gives students from Maternelle through Middle School opportunities to explore, create, and bring their ideas to life, and it was made possible by a generous grant from the Trust. From robotics and engineering to podcasting and digital storytelling, the STEAM lab builds on classroom learning and inspires students to discover new passions. Thank you, Elaine and the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust, for investing in our students and helping us create opportunities for them to learn, grow, and innovate.

Global Mindset Moment (September 4): This year, our Middle School students have a new opportunity built into every school day: Flex Time. Flex Time gives students a dedicated period to get the support they need, dive deeper into areas of strength, and explore new interests and passions. Before launching the program, students completed Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) assessments, giving teachers valuable insight into each student's strengths and areas for growth. These results help us create a personalized roadmap for supporting every learner. It's another important layer of our multi-tiered system of support, and another way we're helping students become successful, balanced, and curious learners.
