November Global Mindset Moments

November Global Mindset Moments

Throughout the year, we share weekly Global Mindset Moments on social media to demonstrate how our mission is playing out in our school and how we are fulfilling our Strategic Plan. Here are the November Global Mindset Moments:

Global Mindset Moment (November 21): Thomas's class got an introduction to robotics with a new activity in their class. The robot comes with a programming board, and the different-colored inserts represent different movements. This helps lay the foundation for when they start working with more complicated robots in first and second grade. It also allows them to work together, problem-solve, and build communication skills.

Global Mindset Moment (November 14): This week, our fifth graders got a visit from two authors who wrote stories about war using their grandparents' memoirs. The authors had the students reflect on books and stories about war and dictatorship, then write a postcard to one of the characters. Students have been studying democracies around the world, and this presentation led to a thoughtful discussion about democracies and dictatorships.

Global Mindset Moment (November 7): Sixth graders in International, German, and Mandarin Tracks joined forces this week to solve an escape room challenge. Their mission was to rescue the world from an evil empire that wanted to return us to a prehistoric era before writing existed. All sixth-grade tracks just finished their unit on early humans and are learning about Mesopotamia. They used information they'd studied to collaborate and solve these challenges. This is one curriculum in five languages on display. Students are learning the same material and are able to collaborate and communicate, no matter what languages they study.
