March Global Mindset Moments

March Global Mindset Moments

Throughout the year, we share weekly Global Mindset Moments on social media to demonstrate how our mission is playing out in our school and how we are fulfilling our Strategic Plan. Here are the March Global Mindset Moments:

Global Mindset Moment (March 27): Our fifth graders have returned from an unforgettable trip to France! Over nine days in Paris and La Rochelle, they put their language skills into action, deepened cultural understanding, and built meaningful connections. A highlight of the trip was meeting their correspondents in person, giving them the chance to connect, play, and speak entirely in French. This experience is a true capstone for our fifth graders, who have been learning French since they were in Maternelle. It also reflects our Presence pillar, as we foster authentic global connections and prepare students to engage with the world around them.

Global Mindset Moment (March 20): Some of our eighth graders recently brought current events to life through a “Current Events Museum” as part of their communications class. Each student selected a news topic that interested them, researched the key stakeholders, and explored multiple perspectives surrounding the issue. They then created balanced displays designed to inform and spark discussion. Other students and teachers explored the displays, asked questions, and engaged in conversations. Fostering curious and critical thinkers means encouraging students to examine different viewpoints, ask insightful questions, and reflect deeply on what they learn, and this project brought our mission to life.

Global Mindset Moment (March 13): On Wednesday, our eighth graders presented their Community Projects to parents and peers. Students have been working on these projects since the fall, researching issues they care about, planning solutions, taking action, and reflecting on what they’ve learned along the way. Each project represents months of thoughtful work and commitment. As an IB World School, this project is an important milestone. It encourages students to see that creating positive change is a shared responsibility and that even small actions can make a meaningful impact in their community.

Global Mindset Moment (March 6): We were lucky to have author Hashley Auguste on campus for the last two days. Hashley is from Haiti and spoke to third, fourth, and fifth graders about being an author and the Francophone countries around the world. Hasley read her book "Je suis Cieba" to the kindergarten, first, and second graders, and talked to them about confidence and self-esteem. Visits like this bring language learning to life. Connecting with French speakers from around the world helps our students expand their perspectives and supports our mission to inspire curiosity and develop the next generation of global leaders.
