Grandparents & Special Friends Day Brings Community Together on Campus

Grandparents & Special Friends Day Brings Community Together on Campus

On November 21, we held our annual Grandparents and Special Friends Day event, welcoming nearly 500 visitors to celebrate French International and witness the joy in our classrooms.

The event was organized into two sessions to accommodate all attendees. The morning session was for the guests of the Maternelle students. After settling into the gym, the preschool, pre-k, and kindergarten classes sang two songs each: one in English and one in French. Following the musical performances, grandparents and special friends visited their students in the classrooms. Each class offered activities tailored to the age group, including playground time, games, songs, and opportunities to learn more about what students do every day.

The second session of the day was for guests of the Lower and Middle School students. Again, everyone started in the gym, enjoying collaborative music performances from the first through third graders and fourth through fifth graders, along with songs from the Middle School Choir Club and a preview of the eighth-grade musical. After the performances, guests experienced the school in action. Classes offered various activities depending on the grade, including games, art projects, French word quizzes, and a chance to see what students have been working on.

Grandparents and Special Friends Day celebrates the role models and community members in our students’ lives. It provides an opportunity for our extended community to see students in action and recognize what makes French International such a special place. This day would not have been possible without the hard work of our staff and volunteers, who helped everything run smoothly. Thank you to everyone who supported the event and contributed to its success.
