French International Celebrates Fête du Vin
On October 14, French International hosted Fête du Vin, an annual fundraiser celebrating the diversity and culture of Oregon’s wine industry.
This year, 200 parents, faculty, staff, and friends of French International joined for a night of wine-tasting and philanthropy. Ten different wineries participated in this year’s Fête du Vin with a wide variety of whites, reds, and even some sparkling.
New this year was a wine seminar before the event hosted by first-grade parents, Dr. Megan Hall and Dr. Alex Frederickson. They studied grapevine pathology and wine chemistry respectively, and both work in the wine industry. They taught participants how to smell, taste, and compare wines. They examined the differences between old-world and new-world wines and held a Q&A.
With 25% of proceeds from wine sales benefitting the school, our community raised more than $17,000 to support financial aid.
The event would not have been possible without the Fête Committee members and the help of the day-of volunteers who kept things running smoothly. Thank you to the volunteers, attendees, and wine and food partners for making this year’s Fête du Vin a success!
