French International Hosts Students and Teachers from Chile
For the last two weeks of September, French International families welcomed 18 Chilean students and their two teachers from the Greenhouse School in Temuco.
The guests arrived on September 17 and stayed with French International seventh and eighth-grade families. From September 18-29, they attended classes at the Middle School and connected with French International students. They even visited fifth-grade classes and talked to students about life in Chile and how they like Portland.
In addition to coming to school, the Chilean students went on field trips to OMSI, the Evergreen Aviation Museum, and joined the eighth graders on a trip to the Oregon Historical Society. The group did a walking tour of downtown Portland with one of the Middle School teachers.
Outside of school, French International host families spent time with their students and took them on excursions around Oregon. Some went golfing, to the coast, and on hikes in the area.
“I think [my exchange student] has learned a lot and hopefully I can go to Chile and learn a lot there too. It’s cool, I have someone I know there now.” -Lafayette, Eighth-Grade Host Student
In the spring, some eighth graders will travel to Chile on their exchange trip. They will visit the Greenhouse School and reconnect with the students and teachers from Chile.
