Carnaval Celebrations at French International

Carnaval Celebrations at French International

One of the most cherished traditions is the carnaval celebration for Maternelle students. The day involves music, dancing, and excitement for the whole school.

This year’s celebration took place on April 3. The morning started with a Maternelle parade through campus. Lower School and Middle School students, and French International faculty and staff lined the road to cheer on the paraders. The Beat Goes On marching band led the way, playing music as they walked through campus. Maternelle students followed, waving to the spectators and showing off the hats they made for the big event.

After a few laps around the traffic circle, the band moved into the gym for a dance party. All of the Maternelle students spent the next hour or so dancing with their friends, teachers, and the performers. But they didn’t get to have all the fun. The Lower School students went to the gym later in the morning for their own dance party.

As part of our school vision, we aim to provide opportunities for our school community to come together. The enthusiasm from older students, faculty, and staff made the day memorable for the Maternelle students. Additionally, learning about the history and traditions of Le Carnaval offers an educational opportunity and broadens the perspectives of our global learners.
