Board of Trustees Update - February

Board of Trustees Update - February

Dear French International Community,

I hope many of you are enjoying a lovely ACE week! With no regular Board of Trustees meeting in February, it has been a relatively quiet month for the board but a busy one for many of the Committees serving the school. Here’s some of what’s been on our plate:

We started off the month with the school’s Annual Meeting, where Scott presented to a small group about the state of the school with the support of the Board of Trustees Executive Committee, especially our Treasurer, Erin-Kate Barton. The Board of Trustees Executive Committee continues to support Scott and his team across all areas of school strategy to create the best possible environment for both our students and staff.

The Committee on Trustees has also been hard at work, exploring how we might revise our bylaws to better align with independent school best practices. We’re also in the process of considering potential new trustees to join our Board, always striving to bring fresh perspectives to our governance. If you are interested in Board service, please reach out to Amy Duryea and Ursula Garcia at cot@frenchintl.org

In terms of our financial oversight, the Audit Committee is diligently preparing for the completion of the school’s annual financial statement audit in March. They’re committed to ensuring our financial practices remain transparent and robust. And our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee is connecting with parents around the potential for affinity groups to support our community.

And my last update, as you’ve likely seen if you’ve been on campus recently, our campus transformation efforts are moving ahead with good momentum! We’re making significant progress with the Maternelle construction, and preparing for the Lower School is well underway. It’s an exciting time as we enhance our physical space to support our mission to develop curious and critical thinkers who can effect change in our interconnected world. If you’re interested in learning more about Grow with Us, the capital campaign to support our campus transformation, please reach out to Marianne Wilburn at mwilburn@frenchintl.org

As always, I appreciate the ongoing support from each of you. Thank you for being part of creating a school community where every student can thrive.

Muchas gracias,

Janna
Chair, Board of Trustees
