Board of Trustees Update - October 2025

Board of Trustees Update - October 2025

Dear FI Community,

October has been an important and energizing month for the Board of Trustees. First and foremost, thank you to everyone who participated in the bylaws vote. Nearly 95% of voters approved the proposed updates—a tremendous show of support. This change not only brings our governance practices in line with NWAIS reaccreditation standards but also strengthens our foundation for the years ahead. Updating our bylaws was a true community effort, and I so appreciate your engagement to make it possible.

In addition to the bylaws work, the Board has been focusing on setting this year’s priorities. Our committees and task forces are up and running, and over the coming weeks, each will finalize its charter to set annual goals and guide its work. Two new task forces for this year include:

  • The Financial Aid Task Force is examining how we can sustain and strengthen access to our school.
  • The Strategic Planning Task Force is helping prepare for our next 5-year strategic plan, which will chart our long-term vision.

We’ve also seen exciting momentum in our Capital Campaign to support the campus transformation and new Maternelle buildings. These efforts are essential to creating the spaces our students and teachers deserve. If you are interested in learning more, please reach out to Marianne Wilburn, FI’s Development Director, or Merritt Olson and Kelly Long, co-chairs of our Campaign Committee.

In the coming months, the Board will continue its work on budget planning and addressing additional NWAIS recommendations, ensuring we stay aligned with best practices in both governance and stewardship.

As always, I invite you to reach out to me or any trustee with questions, ideas, or interest in getting involved. The strength of our school depends on the engagement of this wonderful community—and I am grateful for your partnership.

A bientôt,

Janna McDougall
