Independent Study
Three times a week, an Independent Study time appears on each student’s schedule. During this time students are assigned to a room and can work on their homework, make up a quiz, get help from a teacher, or be requested to meet with a teacher. Support in different subjects is available depending on the day. Independent Study is a great way to use a short amount of time very efficiently.
In sixth grade, this time is used for formal study skills education twice a week. The topics addressed vary including the use of your planner, how to use Google Classroom, how to communicate with teachers, how to review for a test, what is collaboration etc. During the third independent study time each week, 6th graders can work independently under the supervision of a teacher.
