Field Studies

Field studies provide our students with the opportunity to observe and experience real-world science processes in a natural setting.

Students and teachers work together to solve problems, observe plants and animals, and describe their experiences. Students are encouraged to use their oral language skills to describe what they are observing and their written expression to keep journals of their experiences. Traditional camp activities such as hiking, rowing, campfires, camp meals, and visiting with each other are also included to allow the students to develop a different relationship with the teachers.

French International teachers work in collaboration with the Science, Technology Engineering, Art, Math (STEAM) specialist to build the field studies program directly connected to the units of inquiry to enhance the curriculum.
