Early Arrival & Aftercare
Early Arrival
Care is provided at no charge from 7:30 AM until the beginning of the school day. Students are organized in rooms by age group. Fifteen minutes before the school day begins, students are sent to their respective classrooms. For Maternelle, the assistant teachers escort students to class. Early Arrival begins on the first day of school.
Aftercare
Aftercare runs from the end of the school day until 6 PM unless otherwise communicated. Aftercare begins the first day of school.
The Aftercare program provides a safe, nurturing environment for students remaining after school. Student Monitors oversee a variety of non-academic exploratory activities and also provide students with a quiet space to do homework.
Aftercare ends at 6 PM. The remaining children will be directed to room 4-S and will be supervised by an Extended Learning Administrator.
For each child remaining after 6 PM, Aftercare is billed at a rate of $2 per minute, without exception.

Aftercare FAQ
What time does Aftercare start and end?
Students will be dropped off in their Aftercare room by their teachers at the end of the school day and should be picked up by parents/guardians from their designated Aftercare room by 6 PM. A late charge of $2/min will apply starting at 6 PM.
What additional days are included in the Aftercare plans?
Semester and Yearly plans: These plans include only Aftercare on school days. These plans do not include ACE Week, Conference days, or Inservice.
Does the "Super Yearly" plan include childcare for in-service days?
The Super Yearly plan includes everything covered in the Aftercare Plus plan. For the 2024-2025 school year, Aftercare Plus includes childcare on all Parent-Teacher Conference days. By signing up for the Super Yearly plan, you will have all Parent-Teacher Conference days covered, as well as ACE Weeks.
Does the "Super Yearly" plan include automatic enrollment in ACE Week programs?
Yes! Both ACE Weeks are included, and your student is enrolled immediately.
Can I just use drop-in care instead of signing up for a plan?
You may sign up for a plan, but drop-ins are also welcome. The drop-in rate is $15 per hour. No need to pre-register at this time. Giving us notification is always recommended so we know to expect your student. However, if you plan to use Aftercare frequently, the plans are your best option.
What is the charge for drop-in care?
Drop-in care is billed at $15/hr with a late charge of $2/min for pickups after 6 PM.
Can I sign up for the second semester later?
Absolutely! Second-semester registration will be open toward the beginning of the new calendar year.
Are half-days included in the Aftercare plan?
Yes. All three of our plans include half-days. If you do not have a plan, you will be charged for Aftercare at the normal drop-in rate.
Can children participate in both Afterschool Explorers and Aftercare?
Absolutely! We welcome students to both programs. Afterschool Explorers and Aftercare are not mutually exclusive.
How old does a child have to be for Aftercare?
A student’s grade level is determined by birth date. Children must be potty-trained and at least two-and-a-half years (30 months) to enter TPS. French International is not licensed to care for children who are younger than 30 months. For preschool and up, the school adheres to the Oregon cut-off date of September 1. A child must be three years old by September 1 to enter preschool, four to enter prekindergarten, five to enter kindergarten, and so forth. The French government places the cut-off date at December 31 of each year. Children who are French nationals who have already been placed in the school system in France according to the French cut-off date may continue in the same grade upon enrolling at French International.
Is potty training required?
Children must be fully potty-trained on the toilet before they can begin attending class. French International is not licensed to care for children who are not potty-trained.
